Hello 4th Class and Parents,

Hope you are all doing well. I want to say a huge thank you for all the work that you are all doing at home and thank you to those sending pictures via Aladdin Connect. It is great to hear from you and to see you all working so hard.

Our class page is now up on the school website and it is a great way for us to share news and see what our friends have been up to. Check it out if you haven’t yet at: http://www.naascns.ie/muinteoir-norahs-class-2/

This week we are doing a whole school Art Project called Heroes in Our Community. We are going to create a gallery for this work on the school website and please keep your original artwork so we can display it in the school when we are back.

If you haven’t access to Aladdin Connect, you can email any work the students are proud of and would like to share to the email admin@naascns.ie.

Best wishes,

M. Norah

Maths

  • Capacity.

This week we are going to learn about capacity. What does capacity mean?

Capacity is the amount of liquid that a container holds.

Have a look at the PowerPoint attached to help you recall how to read the amount of liquid in a measuring jug.

We measure capacity in millilitres (ml) and litres (l). Remember that 1000ml = 1litre.

This week I would like you to carry out a capacity kitchen hunt by estimating and measuring the capacity of different containers in your kitchen. Please see attached Capacity Kitchen Hunt Worksheet in PDF and Word or you can do your own with whatever you can find in the kitchen (ask permission first please from an adult). If you don’t have something on the list, that’s OK, just choose something else. Perhaps you can look in your fridge to see what one litre looks like. Maybe your milk or orange juice is in a one litre container?

  • Mental Maths. Week 28 Monday.
